United States of America, meet some of the people you consider your leaders.
GOP Senate Majority Leader Eric Cantor:
[I] have deep concerns that some, DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen and DNC Chairman Tim Kaine in particular, are dangerously fanning the flames by suggesting that [threats of violence against Democratic leaders during the 2009-10 health care reform hearings] incidents be used as a political weapon.
Eric Cantor, March 2010
Michele Bachmann, R-MN:
I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue [of the energy tax] because we need to fight back. Thomas Jefferson told us ‘having a revolution every now and then is a good thing’, and the people — we the people — are going to have to fight back hard if we’re not going to lose our country.
Michele Bachmann, March 2009
Joe Wilson, R-SC
Joe Wilson, R-SC, January 6, 2010
Shouted from the floor of Congress at President Barack Obama, during a nationally televised address
Attempts by seven Congressional Democrats to formally request an apology from Wilson for his outburst failed. He never apologized.
John Boehner, Speaker of the House of Representatives:
Mr. President, the buzz saw that your healthcare bill ran into wasn’t lobbyists and special interests. It was tens of millions of Americans who were saying, ‘Stop!’
John Boehner, January 2010
Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska, former reality TV personality, currently unemployed:
(Palin repeated the above phrase, “retreat … RELOAD!” in a Tweet to Dr. Laura Schlessinger in August 2010, after the latter was fired from her own radio talk show for repeating ethnic slurs to a caller on the air.)
Tea Party Nation
The left is coming and will hit us hard on this. We need to push back harder with the simple truth. The shooter was a liberal lunatic. Emphasis on both words …
TPN founder Judson Phillips. Yesterday.
I don’t lean on the bedrock of the old King James very often (I was raised Catholic), but yesterday was terrible. If it will ever apply, it does now:
For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
I know that all of these people talk much more often than they listen, but I think the Bible is a source they all recognize.
Today, I wish they’d read it.
